Happy Solstice, Friends!
Enjoy this longest day and beginning of summer if you're in the Northern Hemisphere.
Trust your inner light to illumine the longest night of the year and the beginning of winter if you're in the Southern Hemisphere.
The Sun's ingress into Cancer for the Summer Solstice adds energy to this first of two Capricorn full moons, the only double-sign full Moon (or new Moon) of 2024.
Both of the Capricorn full moons are known as the Grandmother's Moon because the Cancer-ruled moon holds the wisdom and authority of Capricorn, fused with the protective guidance of the Sun in Cancer, who cares for all who she nurtures.
Every full moon in June is also known as the Strawberry Moon. Lucious, ripened, juicy, sweet strawberries also require a balance of cool nights (Capricorn) and warm Sun (Cancer) to fully develop.
The first Capricorn Full Moon ripens at 1º07' Capricorn a little more than a day after the Cancer Solstice, on June 21/22 at 6:08pm PDT/9:08pm EDT/2:08am GMT/11:08am AEDT.
The following full moon will blossom at 29º09Capricorn on July 21, the final day of Cancer season.
Both earth-element Capricorn full moons will bring information about something coming to fruition.
The current full moon may be the first specific step. Maybe something connected will be completed by the second Capricorn full moon and reveal a breakthrough to a new type of living.
Anytime a cardinal point (0º Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) is crossed, with a solstice or equinox, every direction in the world experiences a shift as a new beginning arises.
This is felt even more significantly with the Cancer Solstice because, in addition to Cancer representing the mother of all life, Cancer represents everything about your home: your country of birth, your human, immediate, and chosen family, your watery body, and the luminous soul that inhabits it.
Cancer season is always about growth. Like the hermit crab that constantly outgrows its shell and has to find a new one, Cancer easily adapts to new situations as it goes through transformative experiences.
Cancer holds memories of the past because it informs the present. Similar to how as an embryo grows, it passes through phases that reflect its evolutionary history.
Cancer is always finding independence from what it has been dependent on.
Cancer can be childlike. The moon child can cling to its mother and others for security.
Cancer is needy before it finds its independence.
The moon in Capricorn, a cardinal earth sign, compliments Cancer, as the Earth holds the fluid motions of water.
However, the moon is considered to be in its detriment in Capricorn, and it tends to focus on resilience instead of emotional needs, but this gives Cancer greater security, a value that Cancer and Capricorn share.
After the past week of extraordinary twists and turns with the influence of Neptune in Pisces, the Capricorn moon can help you ignore the exaggerated events of life and focus on which structures are in place.
With this Capricorn Full Moon creating in an out-of-sign t-square with Neptune in Pisces, disconnections are coming to light.
There's a greater desire to take the lead based on your prior experience.
In many ways, you are finding your inner compass.
Saturn, Capricorn's ruler, is stationing retrograde from June 29 until November 15 to re-align an internal sense of authority with your self-disciplined habits.
Saturn is currently at 19ºPisces, and it will retrograde back to 12ºPisces and revisit Saturn transits experienced since late March 2024.
Neptune is also about to station retrograde from July 2 until December 7, to enhance your inner voice more and cultivate ways to create peace in your inner world without being confused or fearful from a psychic overload.
Neptune is currently at 29ºPisces, and it will retrograde back to 27ºPisces and revisit Neptune transits experienced since the beginning of March 2024.
At 1º07' Capricorn, in the first decanate and duad of Capricorn, this moon is fully represented by Saturn.
The Capricorn moon helps you become organized and focused on the effort needed to realize the fresh, inspired visions of the past week.
Triple Capricorn energy can underscore an unbalanced Saturn's conservative, well-established, patriarchal values.
Saturn also represents your personal responsibility.
Saturn in Pisces wants you to respond, identify, release, and replace mistrustful, rigid, pessimistic, miserly, self-centered perspectives with a new creative vision that includes your heart's desires and determined support for the good of all.
As the Earth turns, people and environments are struggling. Suffering is everywhere.
Cancer season brings home the problems we are all facing.
Mother Cancer supports you in living fearlessly in the world.
Claim your independence. Try something new. Change your point of view. Test something from a different angle. It will make you smarter and kinder.
The Capricorn full moon gives you a clear perspective on making solid decisions about your next steps.
The Moon in Capricorn is opposite Venus in Cancer, offering perspective on overriding codependent patterns and making decisions that won't please everyone.
Mars is in Venus' sign of Taurus and adding supportive strength to this Capricorn Moon, to create harmonious agreements.
Like the Moon in Capricorn, Mars isn't at home in Taurus. Still, both are more determined and stubborn because of this, which helps guide the fluid emotions pouring forth with the Sun, Mercury, and Venus in Cancer.
This is a good time for a mid-year session to refresh what best supports you for the next six months.
Here are some journal prompts to be curious about as you set intentions for the next six months and what you want to release in the next two weeks:
How will you apply the structural awareness of this Capricorn full moon to nurture your life goals?
How will you feel most yourself?
How will you build your sense of self? It's like a muscle; the more you work on it, the stronger it gets.
How will you name your thoughts and ideas, express your feelings, and talk about them with friends?
Make a list of the things you like that make you uniquely YOU. If you don't have the words, draw it, dance it, sing it out! Don't be afraid of who you are.
Give space for others to do the same around you.
Notice what makes everything on Earth unique, different, and so loveable.
I promised I'd share more about my intentions for this Substack page.
I'm still feeling this out as a double Cancer (Cancer Rising and Sun in the second house, with Moon in Libra).
I would like to post shorter but still significant posts more often.
I want the pieces to be a book that will share how I access astrology.
I want to somehow involve you all in this process, so I'd like to hear from you.
What questions do you have about astrology and anything metaphysical?
Now for an emotional paragraph…
My mom became unresponsive from hypoxia (too much carbon dioxide) yesterday morning, June 19, 2024.
If you haven't read, she's been struggling with familial ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) since early 2022.
She got intubated (breathing tube), and she's alive but sedated to make her comfortable with the tube.
The doctor says she can't breathe on her own anymore, so she is close to the end of her life since she never wanted to be on life support.
She almost died on June 6 of aspiration pneumonia, but she miraculously pulled through.
It's hard to believe she will really die (Neptune!), but the Capricorn full moon reality will likely reveal how she will.
Even though I've been doing inner work my whole life to prepare for this, it will likely still spin my world, and I'm not sure for how long.
Maybe it won't. I've already cried a river of tears.
My greatest hope is my mom is finally finding peace and feeling wholly loved as she reconnects with her mother, her sister, and her grandson, who have all died of ALS.
Thank you for all of your "heart" button taps! I appreciate your readership and connection. ❤️
With love, always,
Thinking about you Alyssa and sending lots of love. 💕 We had to take my Mom off the breathing tube too. I still remember every moment vividly, including weeping in the hospital bathroom several times which always made me feel better. Strength and peace to you! ❤️
🙏💙
